There has been much talk of Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks but one of their transfers have fallen through.
Thankfully for Arsenal fans, this one doesn’t involve Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and instead, Olivier Giroud.
It was thought that the Frenchman could move to the German side as part of the deal for the Gabon forward.
Now though, the latest reports from Sky Sports suggests that the player will not be going the other way.
Not only that, the reports suggest that Arsenal actually rejected the notion of letting the player go the other way immediately.
It’s not certain whether that will have any effect on a deal to bring Aubameyang to the Emirates.
Though, judging by recent reports, it shouldn’t make too much of a difference with Wenger confirming he’s a target on Wednesday.
A deal could end up costing Arsenal in the region of £60m but the club are determined to adequately replace Alexis Sanchez.
Safe to say, he would definitely be a brilliant replacement for the Chilean.
Wenger didn’t too confident when speaking to reporters, though.
“This is the kind of thing – he is one of the possible movements, but we have other things in mind as well,” he explained.
“We have plenty of opportunities and the final decision is not made.
“At the moment we are not close to any deal, Aubameyang or anybody else.”
